The Pharmaceutical Marketing Research Group (PMRG) released speaker evaluations from their annual industry conference, the PMRG Institute, held recently in New Brunswick, NJ.
Roger Green and Glenn Hamilton, MD’s talk titled Lessons from an Online Payer Community: Increasing the Importance of Guidelines, was popular with the audience and was among the highest rated presentations of the two-day event.
During their talk, Dr. Hamilton and Mr. Green discussed the impact of the Sovaldi launch and other upcoming blockbuster launches on how health plans monitor and plan for new launches. Dr. Hamilton anticipated a future where payers refuse guidelines from groups like AASLD. Mr. Green noted a change in the calculus for new medicines from cost:benefit or cost:efficiency ratios to a more basic question: “can we afford the out-of-pocket cost of reaping long-term benefits?” They concluded that plans will increase advance surveillance and post-launch control of medicines that threaten to increase cost of drug therapy dramatically.
The presentation scored high in overall audience satisfaction and educational content. The audience members also scored Mr. Green and Dr. Hamilton well in presenting the content clearly and effectively. They felt that the speakers were experts on their subject matter and provided key takeaways which could be implemented. Some respondents even noted that this talk was a factor in their attending the PMRG Institute conference.
The PMRG Institute is one of two annual industry events hosted by the Pharmaceutical Marketing Research Group. PMRG Connect will be held at the Gaylord National Harbor, MD on March 15-17, 2015. For more information visit www.PMRG.org
